3 Million Tourists Expected to Visit Central Java

The Central Java Culture and Tourism Office chief, Maryanto, expects at least 3 million domestic tourists to visit Central Java during the Lebaran holidays. “Such a target is not excessive,” he told Tempo yesterday.

According to Maryanto, there will be more tourists visiting tourist sites because there are five million people from Central Java living in Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi. “Almost all of them will go home for the Lebaran holidays,” he said. In addition, Central Java is located in the middle of major routes, allowing people to stop and rest there. Therefore, the Central Java Culture and Tourism Office is coordinating with the regency/municipality office to make this happen.

Central Java has 147 nature sites, 56 cultural and religious sites, 53 museums, over 150 cultural conservation sites, and 647 traditional dances and art to display. However, agro-tourism, religious tourism, and shopping areas are also expected to receive more visitors.
