A Must for Kadin to Help Develop Regional Economy

Chief Economic Minister Hatta Rajasa said that the new leadership of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) must be able to boost the regional economy.

"We hope that Kadin would be able to help develop the  economy in the regions by optimizing the role of its regional offices," the Coordinating Minister for economic affairs said in response to the election of a new Kadin chairman on Saturday night.

He said that increase in national budget allocations to regional budgets should be used to increase economic development. Indonesia has over the past few years become an interesting place for investment and is now viewed as a country which has an increasing global competitiveness.

Therefore, the minister asked Kadin to utilize the opportunity by building a better and strong partnership.  The minister also called on Kadin to find new innovations to enable it to respond to challenges.

"The new Kadin leadership is expected to facilitate research and development because only with innovations would it be able to  respond to challenges," the minister said at the closing of Kadin leadership meeting here on Saturday night.
